We decided to build our vacation home, but we had no idea which builder to use because we were not that familiar with the area. After getting to know Alan and the company, we were impressed and decided to work with them.Our decision was the right one. We worked with Alan on everything from lot selection, to overall design and many of the specific features we chose for our house; we worked with Dawn on all of our design selections; and we worked with Mark throughout construction. Jon and I are so pleased with the addition PortSide Builders completed for us last year. We needed more space and were so pleased that Joe was able to help accomplish more than we ever expected. He listened to or plans and gave us what we hoped for and more. When we struggled with certain design details he helped by encouraging us to visit some finished PortSide homes in the area. His suggestion helped us visualize and decide how we wanted to design our fireplace as well as place windows for maximum light. Joe was eager to help but always listened and followed our lead. I recognized them from years of seeing their name about the Peninsula but I wondered if PortSide was too big of a company to want to bother with single home construction without a splashy budget. I was dead wrong. Not only did Alan Shefchik at PortSide welcome us warmly each time we met, but he guided us with expert advice, spelled out the costs to stay on budget and kept any fears and concerns in check. I want to thank the PortSide team for completing our large, 1,000+ Sq/Ft remodel. It has exceeded our wildest expectations. This was a large undertaking touching many aspects of our home and it was completed with attention to detail and with understanding to our families schedules and routines during construction. We had been planning to remodel the main floor of our home for quite a while. We had our architect friend design our home, but PortSide’s Building Consultant kept the home in budget and on schedule. The coordination was amazing and all of the subs were great.
