Remodel of the Month

Small Condo Kitchen Transformed Into a Bright, Modern Space

Our April Remodel of the Month features a classic condo kitchen with dark wood cabinets and a peninsula separating the kitchen from the dining area. While functional, the layout created a tight work zone with limited storage and cumbersome access to the table. The owners wanted to open the floor plan to improve storage and flow, and wanted a more contemporary look overall.

To achieve this, the team removed the peninsula and installed a kitchen island. This change instantly opened the space and allowed the kitchen to be extended a few feet into the dining area.

The finished result is a bright, modern kitchen with increased storage and a much better workflow, making time spent in the space more enjoyable.

"We've undertaken a number of remodels, so we have high expectations for our remodeling partner. PortSide listened to our vision and created a floor plan based on those discussions.

We live in the Milwaukee area and were not on-site for most of the project. Our Construction Coordinator kept us informed during the process and was able to adjust quickly when changes were needed. We also appreciated his eye for detail and high standards, having rejected a portion of countertop that wasn't quite right.

Despite the major snowstorm, the project finished on time. We are extremely pleased with the results."
