Remodel of the Month

Primary Bathroom Remodel with Custom-tiled Walk-in Shower

This month's Remodel of the Month showcases how a small-scale renovation can yield big results. The homeowners of this home wanted to update their primary bathroom to include a walk-in shower and refresh the existing cabinetry. Instead of a complete overhaul, they opted for a more targeted approach: updating the cabinets with a fresh coat of modern navy paint and replacing the existing shower with a custom-tiled walk-in shower.

The newly renovated bathroom is bright and contemporary. The new walk-in shower offers a clean, modern aesthetic, a more convenient layout, and easier accessibility, making it a more thoughtful aging-in-place design.

Details of This Bathroom Renovation

  • Removed mirrors, tile backsplash around the vanity, toilet, entire walk-in ceramic tile shower, and dropped soffit above
  • Framed a new shower and installed plumbing per plan
  • Created a white ceramic-tiled shower extending to the ceiling with stone pebble tile flooring and Antique Brass fixtures
  • Sanded and painted existing vanity cabinets a modern navy blue, added a ceramic tile backsplash matching the shower, and installed large one-panel mirrors above each sink
  • Installed a Kohler Highline comfort-height toilet
