Folk Victorian Two-Story Home has Classic Charm & Modern Conveniences

2,041 Sq. Ft., 3 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, office, & finished basement

Our March Home Plan of the Month showcases how each custom-built home is designed to meet the exact needs and vision of our customers, and this home is no exception. The homeowners had a very specific vision and design aesthetic they wanted to achieve by incorporating their love of Victorian-style homes and including some of their own sourced antiques and vintage finishes. They also wanted to include aging-in-place features, as they plan to live out their retirement in this home. The finished result is the perfect combination of Folk Victorian charm with all the modern conveniences you would expect in a new home. Lots of windows throughout the home offer beautiful views and abundant natural light, and the guest bedrooms ensure plenty of room for guests when they come to visit.

"After searching for nearly 10 years, we finally found our dream lot for our retirement home on Lake Michigan. When we were ready to build, we knew we wanted a folk Victorian style that was simple but had some Victorian-like elements. PortSide Builders turned the vision we had for our home into a reality. We met with Al, our Custom Home Designer, he helped us plan our home and ensured we were able to incorporate several personal antique and vintage pieces into the design, such as stained glass, pocket doors, and a wood fireplace surround.  It felt great to bring some old pieces into new construction!

Every member of the crew and staff were friendly and professional, and questions and concerns were addressed right away. We lived out of town and were grateful for the updates we received throughout the build.  The process was seamless, and we are so happy with the results!  We would recommend Portside to anyone looking to build a quality custom home."
