January 2023 Remodel Project

Kitchen Renovation with Wall Removal

This month, we explore a kitchen remodel with wall removal. The owners of this lakefront cottage had a narrow galley-style kitchen with limited work and storage space. They wanted to remove the main wall to open up the space and make room for an island. The new open layout creates a better flow to the rest of the house while also offering improved workspace and smart storage solutions. Overall, time spent in the kitchen is more efficient and enjoyable.

Details of This Remodeling Project:

  • Removed existing kitchen cabinets, soffits, flooring, and wall between kitchen and hallway
  • Removed existing window and reframed for new Pella window, installed siding on exterior to match existing
  • Installed custom maple-wood cabinets, ceramic tile backsplash, and large island with extended snack counter, all with quartz countertops
  • Installed Luxury Vinyl flooring in kitchen

"We would like to express our total satisfaction and delight with PortSide Builders. Our Custom Designer did an outstanding job of helping us design the kitchen to provide more work and storage space as well as making it more attractive overall. Our new kitchen surpasses anything we had contemplated.

Our Construction Coordinator was spectacular. He kept us closely informed of the progress, discussed any issues that arose, kept things on schedule, and was totally responsive to our questions and suggestions. A real professional.

And, on top of all that, they are extremely nice guys. A pleasure to deal with. We are deeply appreciative."
