Our November Remodel of the Month features a project focused on unlocking the full potential of two previously underused areas: a bonus room and a basement. Both were transformed to add significant functionality and value to the home.

The finished bonus room is now a bright and cozy guest bedroom featuring a reach-in closet and new skylights which allow for lots of natural light and create an inviting atmosphere for guests.

The finished basement provides a flexible space, ideal for entertaining. It includes a rec room, exercise room, and a new full bathroom. The large windows and glass sliding doors ensures plenty of natural light and ease of access to the back yard.

Ultimately, these finished spaces provides the homeowner with more capacity for entertaining and hosting guests, increasing the overall enjoyment and liveable square footage of the home.

Details of The Bonus Room Finish

Demo Work:

• Remove all bonus room gable end vinyl siding, window, and exterior wall for larger window
• Removed shingles and roof portion in way of three new skylights
• Removed walls and ceiling as needed for HVAC and electrical work

Renovation Work:

• Frame wall and ceiling for new windows
• Install gable wall and skylight windows
• Frame walls for reach-in closet and install 6-panel doors
• Electrical, HVAC, and finish work according to plan
• Carpet entire room

Details of Basement & New Bathroom

• Frame and sheetrock walls for full bathroom, storage area, drop soffits, and new wall at exercise room
• Full bathroom has shower insert with glass door and polished chrome finish, custom vanity with quartz countertop and undermount sink, tall linen cabinet, luxury vinyl plank flooring
• Install six-panel doors and all trim in Maple Colonial
• HVAC and electrical per plan
• Carpet flooring throughout main rec area
